The China Railway Corporation released information that the opening and operation of the Hong Kong section of the Guangzhou-Shenzhen-Hong Kong high-speed rail has entered the countdown. On September 23, the Hong Kong section of the Guangzhou-Shenzhen-Hong Kong high-speed rail officially opened. At the same time, the railway general manager announced that from 8: 00 on September 10, tickets for various trains on the Guangzhou-Shenzhen-Hong Kong high-speed rail will be sold simultaneously in the mainland and Hong Kong. This marks the mainland high-speed rail network will be extended to Hong Kong, the two high-speed rail interconnection.
The Guangzhou-Shenzhen-Hong Kong high-speed rail is an important part of China's high-speed rail network, with a total length of 141 kilometers, including 115 kilometers in the inland section and 26 kilometers in Hong Kong. The inland section from Guangzhou south to Shenzhen north and Futian were completed and opened to traffic at the end of 2011 and 2015 respectively; the Hong Kong section was wholly-owned by the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region and started construction in 2010.
The Guangzhou-Shenzhen-Hong Kong high-speed rail is an important link between Hong Kong and the Mainland. It is a vivid practice and important achievement of "One Country, Two Systems. In order to realize the interconnection between the Hong Kong section of the Guangzhou-Shenzhen-Hong Kong high-speed rail and the mainland high-speed rail network and convenient travel for passengers as soon as possible, China Railway Corporation has conscientiously implemented the requirements of the central government and established a high-level coordination mechanism for the operation of the Hong Kong section of the Guangzhou-Shenzhen-Hong Kong high-speed rail with the government of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region, the ticketing system and boarding and landing service facilities were optimized and upgraded, emergency plans were formulated, and emergency drills were carried out. At present, the Hong Kong section of the Guangzhou-Shenzhen-Hong Kong high-speed rail has the conditions for ticket sale and scheduled opening.
At the initial stage of the opening of the Hong Kong section of the Guangzhou-Shenzhen-Hong Kong high-speed rail, EMU trains will be arranged according to the daily map, weekend map, and peak map according to the passenger flow. On the peak day, 127 pairs of EMU trains are planned to be operated every day, including Guangzhou, Shenzhen and Hong Kong. 114 pairs of local trains and 13 pairs of cross-line long-distance trains; on the first day of operation on September 23, 95 pairs of EMU trains were arranged.
After the opening of the Hong Kong section of the Guangzhou-Shenzhen-Hong Kong high-speed rail, it can reach more than 40 cities in the Mainland including Beijing, Shanghai, Hangzhou, Fuzhou, Xiamen, Guilin, and Kunming. Among them, the shortest running time from Hong Kong West Kowloon Station to Guangzhou South Station is 47 minutes, to Shanghai Hongqiao Station is 8 hours and 17 minutes, and to Beijing West Station is 8 hours and 56 minutes.
The high-speed rail fares from Hong Kong to mainland cities are determined by the operating enterprises of both parties in terms of segmented billing, separate pricing, and total verification. They are priced in RMB and fluctuate within the published fare range according to the actual market conditions.
