On October 9, the National Development and Reform Commission approved the feasibility study report on the new Shanghai-Huzhou railway via Suzhou and agreed to build the Shanghai-Suzhou-Huzhou railway. The relevant approval document has been issued to the provincial and municipal development and reform commissions along the line on the 10th.
The Shanghai-Su-Hu railway is also known as the Shanghai-Su-Hu high-speed railway or the intercity railway. Judging from its approved design driving speed of 350 kilometers per hour, it is a real high-speed rail. Its construction will fill the gap in the railway on the south bank of Taihu Lake in one fell swoop, giving Huzhou in northern Zhejiang a high-speed rail to Shanghai.
Although it is located in the Yangtze River Delta, Huzhou, a corner of the southwest of Taihu Lake, is currently going to Shanghai, the core city of the Yangtze River Delta. The first choice is the Shensu-Zhejiang-Anhui Expressway, which was opened to traffic a few years ago. This is somewhat behind in the era of high-speed rail chasing. At present, if you want to take a high-speed rail or train from Huzhou to Shanghai, you have to detour from Hangzhou or even further Nanjing. Huzhou, which is located at the bottom of the Yangtze River Delta Shanghai-Nanjing-Hangzhou high-speed rail triangle, and Shanghai, which goes to the apex of the triangle, has only four direct high-speed rail lines every day. As a result of the detour, it would only take 30 to 40 minutes to go around Hangzhou to Shanghai if there was a high-speed railway in Shanghai. Now it takes at least 2 hours to take the high-speed railway around Hangzhou. The fare is still expensive and more time-consuming. To this end, the National Development and Reform Commission made it clear in its approval that in order to improve the layout of the transportation network in the Yangtze River Delta and promote the development of regional economic and social integration, it agreed to build a new railway from Shanghai to Huzhou via Suzhou.
The line starts from Shanghai Hongqiao Station, passes through Suzhou City, Jiangsu Province, and ends at Huzhou Station. The main railway line is 163.54 kilometers long and has 6 stations, of which 4 are newly built, reserving the conditions for Huzhou East Station and setting up contact lines in the direction of Hangzhou. The Shanghai hub will set up a connecting line to be introduced into Shanghai South Railway Station, and the general speed facilities of Shanghai South Railway Station will be moved to Songjiang South Railway Station, and the existing Shanghai-Kunming Line Songjiang Section will be implemented simultaneously.
Shanghai-Su-Hu railway grade: high-speed railway. Design speed target value: 350 km/h. Long-term annual transportation capacity: one-way 50 million person/year.
The total investment of Shanghai-Su-Hu high-speed railway project is 36.795 billion yuan, including 35.625 billion yuan for engineering investment and 1.17 billion yuan for EMU purchase. The railway corporation and the local governments of Shanghai, Jiangsu and Zhejiang provinces along the line jointly funded the construction. The construction period of the project is 4 years.
