Hainan Island's high-speed rail crossing project has always attracted much attention. With Hainan's approval to build a pilot free trade zone and a free trade port with Chinese characteristics, the project is accelerating its implementation.
On January 27, on the "Department Director Channel" of the two sessions of Hainan Province, Lin Dong, director of the Hainan Provincial Department of Transportation, said that the Zhanjiang-Haikou high-speed rail project has attracted great attention from the Ministry of Transport and the two provinces of Guangdong and Hainan. At present, the project is in the early stage of demonstration and will be accelerated this year.
In addition, according to a report by the People's Railway Network, which is in charge of the China Railway Corporation, on January 22, the feasibility study document for the newly built Zhanjiang-Hai'an Railway (including the Qiongzhou Strait) has successfully passed the review.
It is understood that the Zhanhai high-speed rail line is about 125 kilometers long and is designed at a speed of 250 kilometers per hour. It is a part of the "eight vertical and eight horizontal" high-speed rail channel (Baotou-Yan'an-Xi'an-Chongqing-Guiyang-Nanning-Zhanjiang-Haikou (Sanya) high-speed railway).
The pre-feasibility study review meeting of the project was held in Zhanjiang, Guangdong in September 2017.
It is worth mentioning that the significance of the Zhanhai high-speed rail project is not only to break the bottleneck of Hainan Island's external traffic and integrate Hainan into the national high-speed rail network, but also to involve the problem of high-speed rail crossing the sea, which has no precedent in China.
According to the People's Railway Network, when reviewing the feasibility study design documents for the Zhanhai High-speed Railway, the review team successively surveyed the Zhanjiang West Connection Station, Leizhou Station, Nandu River Bridge, Xuwen Station, Yuehai Railway North Port and other points on the spot, and took the Yuehai Ferry across the sea to disembark to the Guangdong Railway South Port for maintenance berths and survey the port site selection plan, A meeting was held in Haikou to fully listen to the demands and opinions of Guangzhou Railway Group, Hainan Railway Company, various cities and provincial organs of Hainan Province on the project.
The expert group finally concluded that "this project is the first in the world and has great innovative significance. The project is extremely difficult because of the many boundary conditions and complex internal interfaces of the various professions related to the project, such as railways, port workers and ships, and the many external conditions involved with local existing ports, urban planning, customs, maritime and other relevant departments."
At present, Hainan Island is connected to the mainland railway network through the Guangdong-Hainan Railway, and it needs to use the "two lines and one ferry" transportation mode to transport trains across the sea by ferry. The specific process is that after the train is disintegrated at the port, the traction locomotive is pushed onto the railway trestle and then enters the cabin to cross the sea. The high-speed rail around Hainan Island has also been fully connected on December 30, 2015, with a total length of 653 kilometers. There are 25 stations on the entire line, including Haikou, Phoenix Airport, Sanya, and Boao, connecting 20 towns in 12 cities and counties in Hainan. "Chain".
In addition, in order to solve the difficulties of the Qiongzhou Strait channel, the Qiongzhou Strait Cross-sea Tunnel has also been frequently mentioned by the media in recent years. The "China Ocean News", in charge of the State Oceanic Administration, published the article "Qiongzhou Strait Cross-Sea Tunnel is Expected to Start Construction" in July 2018, mentioning that "the Qiongzhou Strait Cross-Sea Tunnel Construction Project has officially applied to the National Development and Reform Commission for approval".
