In July, the national railway fixed asset investment completed 67.1 billion billion yuan, an increase of 3.6 percent over the same period last year, of which 49.9 billion billion yuan was invested in large and medium-sized infrastructure projects, an increase of 11.3 percent over the same period last year. By the end of July 2020, the national railway operating mileage reached 141400km, including 36000km of high-speed rail.

Since July, the railway department has conscientiously implemented the central government's "six stability" and "six protection" decision-making and deployment, coordinated epidemic prevention and control and railway construction, increased the construction organization of key projects, strictly controlled the quality and safety of projects, concentrated efforts on projects under construction and construction, and made important progress. First, part of the new line went into production smoothly. The Shanghai-Suzhou-Nantong Railway and the Anshun-Liupanshui High-Speed Railway were put into operation on schedule on July 1 and July 8 respectively, further improving the regional road network structure and injecting new momentum into the economic and social development along the line. As of the end of July, 1310 kilometers of new railways have been put into operation this year, including 733 kilometers of high-speed railways; second, high-quality and efficient implementation of projects under construction. Beijing-Shenyang Passenger Train Beijing Chaoyang-Chengde Section, Beijing-Xiong'an New District Intercity Railway Hebei Section, Yinchuan-Xi'an High-speed Railway, Hefei-Anqing High-speed Railway, Huai'an-Zhenjiang Railway, Taiyuan-Jiaozuo High-speed Railway, Fuzhou-Pingtan Railway, Golmud-Korla Railway Xinjiang Section and other projects are progressing smoothly and are expected to open for operation by the end of the year. Some of the control projects of the Lhasa-Nyingchi section of the Sichuan-Tibet Railway, the domestic section of the China-Laos Railway, and the Zhengzhou-Wanzhou high-speed railway were successfully completed. The third is to do a solid job in preparing for the start of new projects. For the new projects to be started this year, we should refine the arrangements, strengthen the organization and promotion, and ensure the progress and quality of the preliminary work. On July 2, the Shenzhen-Jiangmen railway started smoothly.

The accelerated construction of key railway projects has further improved the scale and quality of China's railway network, played a better role in driving investment, promoted the development of related industries, and made positive contributions in stabilizing employment, expanding domestic demand, absorbing industrial production capacity, promoting steady economic recovery, and helping to win the battle against poverty.
