At the Xi'an Railway Container Central Station in the International Port Area, a large number of new cars are parked here to be shipped to various places for sale. The "Chang'an" international freight train running through Asia and Europe has attracted much attention since its opening. According to the staff, Xi'an Railway Container Central Station is the starting station of the "Chang'an" international freight train. The project covers an area of 2358 mu and has a total investment of 0.68 billion yuan. It was completed and opened to traffic in 2010.

The central station is divided into four areas: international container operation area, special cargo handling operation area, express cargo operation area and general cargo operation area of Xi'an Railway Bureau. The use of modern Internet of Things information technology has realized direct inspection of orders and fully automatic operations in the station, greatly improving the efficiency of port customs clearance and reducing freight costs. It has been identified as a national model and demonstration by China Railway Union.

The construction and operation of Xi'an Railway Container Central Station has effectively brought into play the geographical advantages of Shaanxi Province in connecting the east and the west and connecting the north and the south. It is of great significance to improve the efficiency of the transportation industry in Shaanxi Province, reduce logistics costs, realize the transformation from bulk cargo transportation to container standardized transportation, and promote the rapid development of modern logistics, processing trade and manufacturing industry in Shaanxi Province.

It is understood that the Xi'an Railway Container Central Station in the International Port Area is one of the 18 railway container central stations deployed nationwide by the Sino-foreign joint venture China Railway United International Container Co., Ltd. (referred to as China Railway United). It is the development of modern logistics in Shaanxi Province and Xi'an. The important support platform for the industry and "Xi'an Port" is the central station of the domestic section of the Silk Road Economic Belt and the only international freight inspection area in the country.

Xi 'an Railway Container Central Station plans to have a short-term container cargo throughput of 840000 TEUs, a medium-term 1.38 million TEUs and a long-term 3.1 million TEUs. In 2013, 2014 and 2015, the container throughput was 84000 TEUs, 98000 TEUs and 104600 TEUs respectively, and 130000 TEUs in 2016.
